Interesting gentleman

Interesting sixth plate daguerreotype of a man looking to make a fashion statement.  He is wearing a wonderfully busy patterned wool vest and sports a most unusual ascot which is usually reserved for a gentleman of much higher status.   We can see he is not a man of wealth from his simple light weight jacket which is more suitable to a working man.  We also have to say his hand in his lap is also located in a most precarious place and we wonder if this is on purpose!  The image is in very good plus condition with nice tones and contrast.  The tablecloth and hint of a drape at the edge of the mat have been tinted red.  He also exhibits some tint to his face.  The plate had old seals intact and has been resealed with a new glass.  It is housed in a full leather case.
